June 11, 2009

We are into the month of June here at the resort & things are looking great!  We got a lot of nice rain this spring so the grass is green & the flowers are loving the rain that we got to.

I know the question on your minds is…. How has fishing been?  Fishing has been great!  Most of the month of May brought in excellent fishing right off the docks at the resort.  The guests that were here had a blast catching all kinds of fish without even having to go into their boats, that was pretty cool!

This summer is shaping up to be a nice one!  We had our first Burger & Brat night for charity donations on Saturday June 6th.  We had a great turn out for the first one.  This was a great chance for people to start relaxing right away without having to worry about fixing a meal when they got to the resort.  It was a great chance for the guests to get to know one another also!  Ken & Debbie some of our summer helpers from last season are back & Ken LOVES to cook so he is the grill-master for this fun event!

There are some fun activities planned up at Kab this summer.  There is a Blueberry pancake breakfast on the morning of June 21st.  The members of the community pick the blueberries fresh the year before and freeze them, you can’t get much better than that!

The Land of the Lady Slipper Festival is going to be happening also again this summer.  They had a good turn out last year & they have added even more craft vendors this year.  It looks to be a fun event for the summer!  This starts on July 10 and continues through July 12, 2009.

In case you have not heard the big news of the season, Kabetogama/Ash River Communities are going to be hosting the 2010 Governor’s Fishing Opener.  It will be a wonderful event for the area!

We can’t wait to see you up at the resort this season!  If you are thinking about making a reservation but have not done so we still have a few openings this season, give us a call & we can let you know what is available!  It is not too late to get in a much needed vacation!

See you soon!

Northern Lights Resort!

March 18, 2009

Well it has been a few weeks since I have posted anything & I apologize for that.  We just returned from the 2009 Minneapolis Sports Show at the Minneapolis Convention Center.  It was a great show as usual.  We had a lot of guests of the resort stop by the booth and say hello.  We also met a lot of new people there too.  We are looking forward to seeing all of you this coming season!

We have a lot of new & exciting things coming up in the 2009 season for our guests.  We are getting 3 new boats for the resort, 2 pontoons & 1 new 60 HP Crestliner.  These boats will all have GPS/Fish finders on them.  That will make navigating the big lakes a little easier!  We are also adding a fourth seat to our 2007 Canadian Crestliner 60hp fishing boat & a GPS/Fish Finder unit.

We are also going to be hosting “Burgers & Brats for Charities” to benefit organizations that have helped Northern Lights guests.  Prior to our Sunday Sundaes (our free ice cream sundaes), we will grill burgers & brats for our guests.   The food will be free - although we will be asking for voluntary donations for the charity.  The first cause will be for Breast Cancer in the name of Luanne O’Braske; a Northern Lights guest & breast cancer survivor.  We are going to be changing the charities as we go along.

The snow is finally starting to melt, we were the lucky recipients of another 18″ of snow on March 10, 2009.  However the warm temps over the past few days have made history of that snow storm.  We still have a ways to go before it is all gone but spring will be here before we know it!

Happy New Year to you all!  We are trying some new things here at NLRO, moving into the Cyber world!  Scary stuff! HA!  We have created a new Blog page so you will be able to keep tabs on the things going on at Northern Lights.  Be sure to check back for more updates!

We have had wonderful snowfall this winter.  Excellent snowmobiling conditions!  The trails are the best that they have been in years.  Modest traffic, lots of snow, upwards of three feet, temps. From  zero to +20 for the coming weekend and excellent grooming by the clubs, the state and their operators as well as the National Park Service has established all land trails as exceptional.  A good time to come up & see the Park in another beautiful season…Winter.
